| Teaching
Take your teaching skills to the next level – serve
as a missionary teacher by helping children in an international
community.
OMS International is connected to many schools that minister
to missionary children. Some schools also minister to students
from families of diplomatic corps, international business community
and influential nationals. As a missionary teacher, you will
have the opportunity to share about Jesus Christ and impact
a student’s life in ways that are not easily available
elsewhere.
English
As a native English speaker and teacher, you are one of the
most sought after people in the world! Through teaching English,
you will have the opportunity to cultivate deep relationships
with nationals of all ages. Whether you will teach English
through teaching a life skill, through Bible reading and studying,
small groups, or one-on-one, your students will be eager to
listen and learn.
In all the countries that OMS International serves, teaching
English is the most widely-used evangelism tool. As an English
teacher, you will be on the front lines of spreading the Gospel
of Jesus Christ.
Internships
Whether you are seeking a college credit or not, OMS International
offers a variety of internships that vary in length and in
what you can do. During the summer, you could have the opportunity
to hang out with like-minded students who are serving as interns
in different departments at out headquarters. You won’t
want to trade the fellowship and bonding that will be formed
between you and the other interns when it is time for your
internship to end.
If you want to serve as an intern in another culture, let’s
talk. Whether it be for credit or not, we can talk to our missionary
personnel around the world and get you to where you want to
serve as an intern. If you want to serve longer than the summer,
no problem, just let us know.
Medical Mission
OMS International strives to be holistic. OMS sends week-long
medical campaigns all over the world to help give short-term
aid. Long-term medical service is also needed. In Haiti, you
would have the opportunity to serve alongside the Bethesda
Medical Centre staffs that is primarily Haitian. In Mozambique,
you will have the opportunity to work in a community development
program among very poor people in primitive living conditions,
helping the community with their health needs. You will also
have the opportunity to develop local health projects to further
evangelism, church planting, and education.
Sports Ministry
The soccer ministry of the Into Africa Sports Ministry and
the Christian Union Sports Clubs [Columbia] are teaching soccer
and netball to children, youth and young adults. Through this
Christ-centered ministry, participants are part of a weekly
Bible studies, discipleship exercises, and accountability and
prayer time. The coaches and staff are Christian and lead these
various opportunities. The goal is to raise up a generation
of youth who will radically love Jesus and serve Him.
OMS International needs people who have knowledge of the game
and the experience to serve as a coach/mentor. Soccer teams
are invited to participate also.
Youth Ministry
Statistics show us that most international people make their
decision to follow Christ between the ages of 10-14. You can
be on the front lines of what is considered one of the most
important ministries worldwide. Many of the children this age
come from a background of extreme poverty. Some have had to
work to support their families. Some are accustomed to sickness.
With all these factors in their lives, who will answer the
call to be God’s light to shine in their direction?
Children’s Ministry
OMS is looking for both long-and short-term missionaries to
guide the children to Christ. We need people to work with churches
and lead vacation Bible schools, evangelistic camps and outreaches,
to do tutoring and general children’s ministries. We
also have street kid ministries to minister to the homeless
that are addicted to sniffing paint thinner.
Camp Ministries
Each of our camps is a haven for people who come to them throughout
the year. We have camps in Ecuador, Spain, Brazil, and Taiwan.
Each is a pivotal part of a field’s overall ministry
to the people. The camps are not only used in the summer, but
they are also used as year-round retreat centres.
OMS is looking for counsellors, support staff for maintaining
property and equipment, people who can help in the office,
cooks and those interested as serving as camp director.
Radio Ministry
Imagine a village of people sitting around a tree stump listening
to a solar-powered radio that transmits the Gospel message.
Imagine that through this one radio, and others like it, people
are hearing about Jesus Christ for the very first time. As
a result, people are giving their lives to Christ! The is the
reality of Radio 4VEH in Haiti.
Through this ministry, and other radio ministries in Ecuador,
Mozambique, and South Africa, you could serve in the area of
public relations and promotion, you could serve as a radio
engineer, or you could work as a support personnel. We can
even arrange internships for credit! People’s lives are
being radically changed by the transforming power of Jesus
Christ!
OMS International has personnel need for people like you to
fill for both short and long term. Come and be apart of this
fantastic ministry!
Asian Training Centre
The OMS Asian Training Centre is located in Malang, Indonesia.
Only 16 trainees, ages 20 or older, are able to attend each
summer. The training runs from mid-May to mid-June as you live
on the Nusantara Seminary campus. Each trainee will learn the
Indonesian language and culture, as well as how to teach English
as a second language, the basics of missology and ministry
skills. Trainees will apply their ministry skills by building
relationships with Muslims and Hindus in various schools and
weekend ministry teams. Each person will partner with an Indonesian
ministry student to evangelize the community.
There are also opportunities to serve five other Asian countries
after graduating from the Training Centre.
Homeland Missionaries
Today’s businesses, organizations and mission agencies
understand the strategic importance of behind-the-scenes workers.
For ever salesperson, there is a corps of workers manufacturing
the product, keeping records and accounts and shipping merchandise.
In the military, for every soldier that fights on the front
line, four to five support personnel serve behind the lines.
Strange to say, God’s work operates in the same fashion.
Without homeland staff, much of the ministry worldwide that
OMS is involved in would come to a halt.
As a homeland missionary you have the opportunity to see God’s
work on a global scale. There are many opportunities to use
your gifts, skills, and educations in areas such as: administration,
church relations, communications, development, finance, recruitment,
youth ministries, children’s ministries and media to
just name a few.
Construction & Maintenance
Are you good working with your hands? Is it just second nature
for you to work with tools to build, repair and maintain something?
If so, OMS International needs you in various fields to be
apart of the missionary team. We need people who feel called
to provide maintenance, repair, help in developing property
and assist in maintaining vehicles to free missionaries for
ministry. We also need people in areas of construction and
maintenance to teach such skills to nationals.
