Pavlo Lozynsky was born, grew up and became a Christ follower in Ukraine. When he was a student, his family immigrated to Canada (Niagara region). After spending five years there and becoming Canadian citizen, God started to work in Pavlo's life, giving him the desire to go to Ukraine again to serve Ukrainian people and lead them to God. After a time of prayer and discerning, God opened the doors, providing support, and Pavlo was sent as a missionary to his homeland!
Shortly after he arrived in 2005, he met his wife Halya, and later God gave them two lovely daughters, Sofiya and Khrystyna. Since 2006, they've been serving the Lord together in the city of Lviv and nearby areas, reaching out to unbelievers (mainly young students), sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them and helping them grow as disciples of Jesus. In their work they focus on three things: making disciples, growing leaders and planting churches. They were accepted as One Mission Society missionaries in February 2013.
In 2010, they started a new church community, "God's Design." God has been blessing it and working there, adding those who are saved. Today, "God's Design" is a fellowship of home churches, with three groups of 10–15 people each. Their vision is to continue to multiply and grow. They meet at homes during week days for fellowship and Bible study, and Sunday evenings, they come together as one larger group, to worship God and to learn from those more mature in the faith. Their vision is to learn, live and share God's design for this world.
Pavlo serves as a lead pastor of this community, teaching God's Word, providing leadership and vision, and investing in the next generation of leaders … "teaching those who will be able to teach others" (2 Timothy 2:2). Halya, though busy caring for Sofiya and Khrystyna, leads various women's/girls' groups and does a lot of one-on-one mentoring.
Pavlo says: "As we look to the future, we want to fulfill Jesus' vision—disciples for Him of all nations. And our segment of this is Ukraine and specifically Lviv and Lviv Region. Lviv is a city of close to 1 million, and there's less than 1 percent of the population who trust and follow Jesus as their Lord and Savior. There are also many towns around Lviv where there is no single evangelical church, and I know God wants to involve us in changing that. For the future, we pray and dream that God would involve our family in starting many more communities like ours, and we're open to go wherever He leads us and do whatever is needed to be done for His Kingdom."
